Applications for INSPIRE Taster Days are now open! Apologies this is getting to you a few days late, there have been some issues with our emailing system within the medical school but it is sorted now.
The INSPIRE scheme is a programme run by the Academy of Medical Sciences, and supported by the Wellcome Trust, that aims to encourage and promote medical, dental and veterinary students to learn about and get involved in research at their own schools and elsewhere, both in the UK and abroad. The scheme is co-ordinated between Cardiff, Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth universities and organises Taster Days, bursaries for summer projects, Intercalators’ Conference and runs the INSPIRE journal.
The ‘Taster Days’ provide you a chance to meet and learn from the prestigious research groups at these four academic institutions, there are over 60 groups to choose from! You can go to the group of your choice between Cardiff, Bristol, Plymouth and Exeter and learn about the exciting work they are doing. This is also an avenue for your to get involved with these groups and earn a bursary for a potential summer project in the future. Students from all years are welcome to apply!
Have a look at the numerous opportunities available in brochure below. If accepted for attending Taster Days in Bristol, Plymouth or Exeter, we will be able to reimburse your transport costs!
Please note the following message from the Heads of Years:
“Taster Days are a great opportunity for professional development, but it is important to recognise that attendance should not compromise your engagement in your MBBCh programme. Please ensure that you check your timetable when considering Taster Days; it is important that permission for absence is sought and granted for any sessions you might want to miss. “
